Who’s Matt?

Hi everyone. Welcome to Gameschoolprep.com.

This is a project that I started when I noticed there was a real need for quality information for people interested in starting a career in game development, and unsure about their best options for further education.

I’ve been in the games industry over 10 years, and I’ve had the pleasure of working at some great places including EA, Relic Entertainment and Ubisoft. I started in the industry as a Character Artist, moved into Environment and Tech Art, and then became an Art Director, at which point I took a major left turn and switched to the Production track. I’m currently employed as a Producer at Ubisoft Toronto.

I’ve shipped over a dozen games, including titles in the massively successful FIFA, Need for Speed, Madden and NBA Street franchises, as well as Space Marine, Company of Heroes 2, and, most recently Splinter Cell: Blacklist. I’ve worked on every major platform of the past 10 years.

I graduated from two different animation colleges, and have been teaching for the last couple of years at Max the Mutt Animation School in Toronto.

Thanks for visiting. It’s still early days, so please subscribe to get notified of new content as soon as it is available. I’ll be posting new Articles, School Profiles and Industry Interviews. If you’re one of my friends in the industry reading this, be warned that I’m going to be hitting you up for an interview soon. Feel free to email me at matt [at] gameschoolprep.com, and I’ll do my best to answer as many emails as I can, as long as you aren’t trying to sell me miracle supplements.

Matt
